The Opportunity:

As a Lead Science Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of science education at a school committed to excellence. This position involves teaching Key Stage 4 students and leading the development of the Science department, ensuring high-quality learning experiences and strong academic outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality science lessons to Key Stage 4 students, supporting their academic progress and engagement.
  • Lead and mentor other Science teachers, providing guidance and professional development opportunities.
  • Develop and implement an innovative and impactful science curriculum aligned with school values.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing timely feedback and support to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the school to enhance cross-curricular learning and student achievement.
  • Represent the Science department at staff meetings and contribute to school-wide initiatives.
  • Stay up to date with developments in science education and incorporate best practices into teaching.
  • Support students in developing a passion for science and a lifelong curiosity about the natural world.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a relevant degree in Science or a related subject.
  • Proven experience in teaching Science at Key Stage 4.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills with experience in leading a department.
  • Excellent knowledge of the science curriculum and assessment strategies.
  • Commitment to inclusive education and student-centered learning.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching Key Stage 5 students.
  • Experience with curriculum development and innovation in science education.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with colleagues and parents.
  • Experience in leading or contributing to whole-school initiatives.
