The Opportunity:

As a Lead English Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in inspiring and guiding Key Stage 4 students to reach their full potential in English. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and influence the English and Literature department, contributing to a dynamic and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality English lessons to Key Stage 4 students, ensuring engaging and effective teaching
  • Lead and support the development of the English curriculum and teaching strategies
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing targeted feedback and support
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and improve departmental performance
  • Mentor and develop junior teachers within the English and Literature department
  • Participate in the planning and delivery of extracurricular activities related to English
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance
  • Contribute to the school’s wider vision and values through active involvement in school initiatives

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a valid teaching qualification
  • Proven experience teaching English at Key Stage 4 level
  • Strong subject knowledge in English and Literature
  • Experience in a leadership or mentoring role within a school setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and assessment
  • Familiarity with inclusive teaching practices
  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language
  • Leadership experience in a school or educational setting
