The Opportunity:
As a Lead English Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in inspiring and guiding Key Stage 4 students to reach their full potential in English. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and influence the English and Literature department, contributing to a dynamic and supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality English lessons to Key Stage 4 students, ensuring engaging and effective teaching
- Lead and support the development of the English curriculum and teaching strategies
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing targeted feedback and support
- Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and improve departmental performance
- Mentor and develop junior teachers within the English and Literature department
- Participate in the planning and delivery of extracurricular activities related to English
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance
- Contribute to the school’s wider vision and values through active involvement in school initiatives
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with a valid teaching qualification
- Proven experience teaching English at Key Stage 4 level
- Strong subject knowledge in English and Literature
- Experience in a leadership or mentoring role within a school setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred
- Experience in curriculum development and assessment
- Familiarity with inclusive teaching practices
- Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language
- Leadership experience in a school or educational setting
