The Opportunity:
As the Head of Humanities, you will play a pivotal role in leading and developing the learning area, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning. You will work closely with the Head of Learning Area to drive improvements and maintain the school’s commitment to excellence for all students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Humanities Learning Area, ensuring it meets the school’s high standards.
- Collaborate with the Head of Learning Area to support the strategic direction of the school.
- Develop and implement effective teaching and learning strategies across the department.
- Support and mentor staff within the learning area to enhance professional development.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress to ensure continuous improvement.
- Promote a culture of innovation and excellence in teaching and learning.
- Work closely with other departments to ensure a cohesive and integrated curriculum.
- Represent the learning area at school-wide meetings and events.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven leadership experience in an educational setting.
- Strong subject knowledge in Humanities.
- Experience in curriculum development and delivery.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Commitment to educational excellence and high standards of teaching.
Preferred
- Experience in a senior leadership role within a school or academy.
- Familiarity with the Mossbourne Federation’s values and ethos.
- Experience in leading departmental improvement initiatives.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with staff development and mentoring.
