Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Modern Foreign Languages department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve student outcomes and engagement in the subject.
- Support and mentor teachers within the department, promoting continuous professional development.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align departmental goals with school-wide priorities.
- Oversee curriculum design and assessment strategies to ensure consistency and quality.
- Promote a culture of excellence, innovation, and inclusion across the learning area.
- Represent the department in meetings and external events, advocating for the subject and its impact.
- Ensure the effective use of resources and technology to enhance teaching and learning.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in leading a department or transitioning into a leadership role.
- Strong subject knowledge in Modern Foreign Languages, with the ability to teach Key Stage 5 as an advantage.
- Excellent organisational and leadership skills with a track record of driving improvement.
- Commitment to high standards of teaching, learning, and behaviour.
- Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate both students and colleagues.
Preferred
- Experience with innovative teaching methods and curriculum development.
- Background in working within a federation or multi-academy trust.
- Familiarity with exam board requirements and marking processes.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships across the school.
