The Opportunity:

As the Head of I&S, you will lead and inspire a dynamic department to deliver high-quality, inquiry-based learning that promotes curiosity and critical thinking. This role is ideal for an experienced educator passionate about shaping the future of education and making a lasting impact on students.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, develop, and inspire the I&S department to deliver high-quality, inquiry-based learning.
• Oversee the planning and delivery of a coherent, vertically and horizontally aligned I&S curriculum aligned with IB philosophy.
• Create and sustain a positive, inclusive departmental culture that supports high expectations and collaboration.
• Support and coach teachers through mentoring, lesson observations, and professional dialogue.
• Ensure effective differentiation and inclusive practice to meet the needs of all learners.
• Lead the use of assessment data to monitor progress and drive improved student outcomes.
• Promote the integration of technology and innovative pedagogical approaches.
• Collaborate with senior leaders and cross-curricular teams on whole-school initiatives.
• Engage proactively with parents and the school community regarding curriculum and departmental initiatives.
• Contribute to the wider life of the school through co-curricular activities and academic enrichment.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• A certified professional teaching qualification at degree level, such as B.Ed, PGCE, PGDE or equivalent in I&S.
• A minimum of 3–5 years’ successful experience teaching Secondary I&S with evidence of strong student outcomes.
• Demonstrable experience in curriculum and departmental leadership, including supporting colleagues and driving improvement.
• Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• The vision and commitment to contribute to the continued success of a leading international school.

Preferred

• Experience teaching within an IB framework (MYP and/or DP).
• A proven passion for inquiry-based I&S teaching and the ability to inspire both students and colleagues.
• A commitment to ongoing professional learning and reflective practice.
