The Opportunity:
As the Head of Learning, you will play a vital role in shaping the academic and personal development of students. This position offers the chance to lead, inspire, and drive a culture of excellence, independence, and engagement among Sixth Form learners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage the Sixth Form Study Room, ensuring a calm, purposeful learning environment
- Promote and develop students’ independent study skills and habits
- Monitor student attendance, engagement, and use of study time effectively
- Act as a visible, approachable presence for students, offering guidance and support
- Uphold high standards of behaviour, dress code, and Sixth Form expectations
- Maintain resources, displays, and an organised learning environment
- Communicate effectively with Sixth Form Leaders and staff regarding student concerns
- Provide cover supervision across a range of subjects when required
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in a leadership or supervisory role within an educational setting
- Strong organisational and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to supporting student achievement and wellbeing
- High expectations of behaviour and engagement
- Reflective, resilient, and committed to continuous professional development
- Experience in promoting independent learning and study skills
Preferred
- Experience working with Sixth Form students
- Background in safeguarding and student welfare
- Familiarity with curriculum development and academic support strategies
- Experience in managing study spaces or learning environments
