The Opportunity:

As the Head of Lower Junior School and Class Teacher, you will lead and inspire pupils in Years 3–6, shaping their academic and personal development. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute strategically to a school’s vision while delivering high-quality teaching and pastoral care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Lower Junior School, ensuring academic and pastoral excellence across Years 3–6.
  • Deliver high-quality teaching in core subjects such as English or mathematics.
  • Support and develop staff within the Junior School Leadership Team.
  • Promote a vibrant co-curricular programme and full involvement in school life, including residential trips.
  • Work collaboratively with the Head of Junior School and the Strategic Leadership Group to drive school improvement and innovation.
  • Ensure the highest standards of teaching and learning through effective leadership and professional development.
  • Inspire pupils to be curious, kind and courageous learners in line with the school’s ethos.
  • Manage and lead initiatives that enhance teaching and learning across the school.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience within an educational setting, ideally in a senior leadership role.
  • Strong teaching experience, with a focus on core subjects such as English or mathematics.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high academic standards and pastoral care.
  • Experience working within a co-educational, selective school environment.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection, with willingness to undergo appropriate checks.

Preferred

  • Experience in school leadership or management, including strategic planning.
  • Experience with curriculum development and innovation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in leading and managing teams effectively.
  • Involvement in co-curricular activities and school events.
