The Opportunity:

As the Head of Lower School, you will lead and inspire students in Years 6 to 9, ensuring their academic, pastoral, and personal development. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the early years of student life and contribute to the strategic direction of the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the academic progress, pastoral care, and wider experience of students in the Lower School.
  • Support the Heads of Old Grammar, First Form, Second Form, and Third Form in their leadership and management roles.
  • Promote and model the school’s values of kindness, awareness, and readiness.
  • Ensure a strong focus on safeguarding, pastoral care, and academic support for students.
  • Play a key role in managing transitions and supporting students through their early years at the school.
  • Contribute to school policy discussions and development, bringing insight into current educational issues.
  • Foster a culture of respect, diversity, and community engagement among students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in an educational setting, ideally within the independent sector.
  • Strong understanding of curriculum development and student welfare.
  • Experience in managing a team of teachers and support staff.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.

Preferred

  • Experience in a senior leadership role within a school.
  • Familiarity with the UK education system and current educational trends.
  • Experience with pastoral care and student wellbeing initiatives.
  • Background in promoting diversity, inclusion, and community engagement.
