The Opportunity:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the maths department in delivering high-quality teaching and learning across all year groups.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to co-plan and deliver consistent, innovative units of work.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the maths team to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Provide professional development opportunities for maths staff to enhance teaching practices.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to align departmental goals with school-wide priorities.
  • Promote a culture of high expectations, strong behaviour, and student achievement.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve student outcomes and engagement in mathematics.
  • Represent the maths department in meetings and external events.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within a school maths department.
  • Strong subject knowledge in mathematics with a passion for teaching and learning.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team of teachers.
  • Experience in curriculum development and delivery across all key stages.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school rated as outstanding by Ofsted.
  • Background in a non-selective, all-through academy setting.
  • Familiarity with the Ark Schools values and DNA.
  • Experience in delivering training and professional development for staff.
