As the Head of Mathematics, you will lead the department in delivering high-quality teaching and learning, shaping curriculum development, and fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Mathematics department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning across all key stages.
  • Develop and implement the curriculum, schemes of work, and assessment strategies.
  • Monitor student progress and implement targeted interventions to improve outcomes.
  • Deliver high-quality lessons and provide effective feedback to support pupil learning and development.
  • Promote and manage extracurricular activities, including after-school clubs and targeted boosters.
  • Support the professional development of staff through training, mentoring, and collaborative planning.
  • Ensure the effective use of data to monitor progress, set targets, and plan lessons.
  • Maintain strong relationships with parents, governors, and the wider community.
  • Uphold and promote the school’s policies on behaviour, safety, and safeguarding.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent.
  • Proven ability to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
  • Strong communication skills with parents, governors, and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching Mathematics at relevant key stages.
  • Excellent IT skills across a range of software and programs.
  • Understanding of key stage curricula and national strategies.

Preferred

  • Experience in coordinating a subject department.
  • Leadership experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Experience in managing support staff within the classroom.
  • Familiarity with the Trust network and inter-school collaboration.
