Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Maths department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement an effective and innovative maths curriculum aligned with national standards.
  • Monitor and evaluate teaching and learning practices to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Support and mentor maths teachers, providing professional development and guidance.
  • Use data effectively to identify areas for improvement and track student progress.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support whole-school improvement and strategic goals.
  • Promote a culture of inclusion, innovation, and excellence in maths education.
  • Represent the department in school-wide meetings and external events.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education with a Maths specialism and QTS or equivalent.
  • Or a Bachelor’s Degree in Maths or a related subject with a PGCE or PGDE in Secondary Maths and QTS or equivalent.
  • Or a Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with a PGCE or PGDE in Secondary Maths and QTS or equivalent, plus a minimum of two years’ experience teaching Secondary Maths.
  • Proven leadership experience in education, with a track record of improving teaching and learning outcomes.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to use data to inform decision-making and drive improvement.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and innovation.
  • Experience with international qualifications such as GCSE, iGCSE, iAS, or iA Level.
  • Familiarity with the National Curriculum for England and the EYFS Development Matters Framework.
  • Experience in leading a large department or team.
  • Experience working in an international school setting.
