The Opportunity:

As Head of Maths, you will lead the Key Stage 3 & 4 maths department, driving curriculum development and ensuring high standards in teaching and learning. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact on student outcomes and support a dedicated team of educators.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the Key Stage 3 & 4 maths team to deliver high-quality, engaging lessons.
  • Develop and implement a robust maths curriculum aligned with GCSE standards.
  • Oversee assessment planning and ensure consistent delivery of teaching and learning across the department.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted support where needed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the school to enhance student outcomes and promote inclusion.
  • Manage departmental tasks efficiently, including planning and resource development.
  • Foster a positive, motivating environment that encourages professional growth and collaboration.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding and equality policies throughout all aspects of the role.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A good standard of education; ideally qualified or working towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Strong subject knowledge in mathematics at Key Stage 3 level.
  • Effective communication skills with students and colleagues.
  • Ability to motivate and support others within the team.
  • Organisational skills to manage curriculum planning and departmental tasks efficiently.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development or leadership roles.
  • Experience working with students with autism or special educational needs.
  • Familiarity with GCSE maths and assessment strategies.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student wellbeing and inclusion.
