The Opportunity:

As a Pastoral Support Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students and contributing to a positive learning environment. This is an ideal opportunity for someone passionate about student welfare and committed to making a real difference in the lives of young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Assistant Headteachers and Heads of Year in delivering high-quality pastoral care to students.
  • Triage pastoral concerns and identify appropriate support pathways for students.
  • Act as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) and refer cases to the DSL or other relevant staff.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for students at Student Services and support during key times of the day.
  • Ensure students adhere to the school's high expectations and behaviour standards.
  • Provide first aid support and contribute to safeguarding and wellbeing initiatives.
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to student welfare and pastoral needs.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Experience in a pastoral or support role within an educational setting.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing.
  • First aid qualifications.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school environment, particularly within a boys’ grammar school.
  • Knowledge of child protection procedures and safeguarding best practice.
  • Experience with pastoral care and student support strategies.
  • Flexibility to travel between campuses.
