The Opportunity:

As the Head of Music and Performing Arts, you will lead a dynamic and highly regarded program that plays a central role in school life. This role offers the chance to inspire young minds through music and drama, while contributing to a vibrant and innovative educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the Music and Performing Arts curriculum across Key Stage 2.
  • Deliver high-quality music and drama lessons to all Key Stage 2 pupils.
  • Manage and coordinate the work of visiting music teachers.
  • Organise and lead termly concerts, showcases, and productions.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the school and local partners on arts initiatives.
  • Uphold and strengthen the school’s historic relationship with HM Chapel Royal St James’s Palace.
  • Support the development of students’ creative and performance skills.
  • Promote the values of Community, Joy, and Scholarship throughout the department.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Strong experience in teaching Music and Performing Arts in a junior school setting.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality lessons and lead a department.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Experience working with visiting teachers and managing a departmental calendar.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Additional teaching specialism for full-time roles.
  • Experience with large-scale productions or school performances.
  • Familiarity with partnership initiatives in education.
  • Experience working with HM Chapel Royal or similar institutions.
