The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Teacher of Music to join our dynamic department on a part-time basis. The role involves delivering high-quality music education to students from Year 7 through to A Level, while contributing to the vibrant musical life of the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging and challenging music lessons to students across a range of abilities.
  • Contribute to the leadership and direction of the Music Department, including the management of choirs and ensembles.
  • Direct and lead choral and instrumental ensembles, ensuring high standards of performance and musical development.
  • Utilize the school’s excellent facilities, including practice rooms, teaching spaces and music technology resources.
  • Encourage student participation in a wide range of musical activities and performances.
  • Support students in developing their musical talents and preparing for public performances and assessments.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the school to enhance the overall music curriculum and student experience.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and performance.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in teaching Music at Secondary level, up to and including A Level.
  • Proven ability to direct and lead choral and/or instrumental ensembles.
  • Strong classroom management and teaching skills with a commitment to student engagement and achievement.
  • Experience in delivering a broad and balanced music curriculum.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience working in a school with a strong focus on performing arts.
  • Knowledge of music technology and its application in teaching and composition.
  • Experience in conducting or composing for ensembles or choirs.
  • Familiarity with the GDST network or similar educational environments.
