The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Head of Music (Maternity Leave) to lead and develop the Music department at a thriving school. This role offers the chance to inspire students, drive curriculum innovation, and contribute to a department with a strong track record of success and support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the Music department to ensure continued academic and extracurricular excellence.
  • Deliver outstanding teaching and learning to GCSE and A Level standards.
  • Ensure students make consistent and high levels of progress across all key stages.
  • Support and mentor staff within the department, promoting professional development and career progression.
  • Manage and develop the department’s extra-curricular programme, including music ensembles and performances.
  • Foster a culture of inclusion, diversity, and Catholic values within the department.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to implement strategic goals for the school and department.
  • Maintain and enhance the use of resources, including fully equipped Music classrooms and practice rooms.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in leading a successful Music department.
  • Strong teaching experience to GCSE and A Level standards.
  • Commitment to Catholic education and the school's ethos.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students and colleagues.
  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills.

Preferred

  • Experience with the Eduqas GCSE course and Soundtrap.
  • Experience in developing and delivering professional development programmes.
  • Experience in managing and supporting new teachers.
  • Experience in working within a multi-academy trust or similar educational partnership.
