The Opportunity:

As the Head of PE and Sport, you will lead and develop a high-quality PE and sport programme aligned with the British curriculum. This role is ideal for someone passionate about promoting physical wellbeing, inclusivity, and lifelong learning in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for PE and sport across the school.
  • Lead, manage, and support the PE department, including staff performance and professional development.
  • Review and implement departmental policies, schemes of work, and assessment practices aligned with the British curriculum.
  • Manage departmental budgets, resources, facilities, and equipment effectively.
  • Deliver high-quality PE lessons, modelling outstanding teaching practice.
  • Ensure curriculum coverage, progression, and differentiation to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Promote inclusive practice and ensure equal access to PE and sport for all students.
  • Monitor, assess, and report on student progress in line with school and curriculum requirements.
  • Ensure the highest standards of health and safety in all PE and sporting activities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
  • Degree in Physical Education, Sport Science, or a related field.
  • Experience teaching PE within the British curriculum (primary and/or secondary).
  • Proven leadership or coordination experience within a PE or sports department.
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum planning, assessment, and differentiation.

Preferred

  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language.
  • Experience in managing large-scale sporting events or conferences.
  • Demonstrated ability to represent the school in external networks and events.
