The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Head of PSHCE to lead the "Individuals in Society" curriculum, which encompasses PSHCE, RSE, and the Gardener Award. This role offers the chance to shape the personal development of students across all year groups and to contribute to a forward-thinking, student-centred educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the "Individuals in Society" curriculum, ensuring alignment with the school’s values and educational goals.
  • Oversee the delivery of the Gardener Award, which includes five key strands: Enterprise, Perspectives, Wellbeing, Community, and Creativity.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership, subject leaders, and external agencies to enhance student outcomes and personal development.
  • Deliver high-quality PSHCE and RSE provision, ensuring it is relevant, engaging, and age-appropriate.
  • Support and mentor teaching staff within the Individuals in Society department.
  • Work closely with the Deputy Head Pastoral to ensure seamless integration of personal development across the school.
  • Contribute to the development of school policies and initiatives that promote student wellbeing and social responsibility.
  • Engage with students, parents, and the wider community to promote the school’s ethos and values.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in PSHCE, RSE, or related subjects.
  • Proven leadership experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of personal development, wellbeing, and character education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with senior leadership and subject teams.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and delivery.
  • Familiarity with the Gardener Award or similar programmes.
  • Experience with teaching A Level Psychology or related subjects.
  • Experience in managing and leading a department or team.
  • Knowledge of independent school systems and pastoral care models.
