Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Physics department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for the department, aligned with the school’s educational goals.
  • Collaborate closely with the Heads of Biology, Chemistry, and the Head of Science to enhance the overall Science curriculum.
  • Support and contribute to the extra-curricular programme and the pastoral care of students.
  • Promote a culture of continuous professional development among staff.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring that all learners achieve their full potential.
  • Represent the department in meetings, events, and external engagements.
  • Ensure compliance with school policies and safeguarding procedures.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a senior academic role, preferably in a school or educational institution.
  • Strong subject knowledge and experience in teaching Physics at all levels.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across the school.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and innovation.
  • Involvement in extra-curricular activities or pastoral support.
  • Experience with leadership in a co-educational setting.
  • Familiarity with modern teaching methodologies and technologies.
