The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Head of Spanish to lead and innovate within a dynamic and strong department. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the Spanish department to ensure academic excellence and student engagement.
  • Deliver high-quality teaching and learning, incorporating innovative and digital approaches.
  • Support the professional development of staff within the department.
  • Collaborate with other departments to enhance cross-curricular learning opportunities.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring continuous improvement in outcomes.
  • Represent the department at school-wide meetings and events.
  • Promote the study of Spanish both within and beyond the school community.
  • Contribute to the development of the school’s language curriculum and extracurricular offerings.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a senior teaching or departmental role.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Spanish and a commitment to language education.
  • Experience in curriculum development and teaching at all key stages.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to innovate and integrate technology in teaching.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department or team in a school setting.
  • Ability to offer a second language as an additional skill.
  • Experience with digital literacy and online teaching platforms.
  • Experience in developing and delivering extracurricular language programmes.
