Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Physics department, ensuring high academic standards and student engagement.
  • Develop and implement a dynamic and challenging curriculum that supports student achievement.
  • Inspire and motivate students through innovative teaching and learning strategies.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the school to enhance cross-curricular links and student outcomes.
  • Supervise and support departmental staff, providing professional development and mentorship opportunities.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
  • Represent the department at school events and contribute to the overall strategic direction of the school.
  • Ensure the use of up-to-date resources and technology to enhance the learning experience.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a strong background in Physics.
  • Proven leadership experience in a school setting, ideally as a Head of Department.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • High expectations of pupil achievement and behaviour.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Preferred

  • Experience with leading a successful Science department.
  • Familiarity with co-educational settings.
  • Experience in developing and delivering innovative science curricula.
  • Experience with using technology in teaching and learning.
