The Opportunity:
As Head of RE, you will lead a dynamic and high-achieving department that is central to the school’s mission and values. This is a unique opportunity to shape the delivery of a vibrant and engaging RE curriculum, in line with diocesan requirements and the school’s ASPIRE values.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a team of dedicated RE teachers to deliver an outstanding curriculum.
- Ensure RE is taught with the same high standards as other core subjects.
- Work closely with the Assistant Headteacher in charge of Catholic Life and the school chaplain.
- Promote the school’s Catholic mission and values through the RE curriculum.
- Support students in developing their spiritual, moral, and cultural understanding.
- Ensure the department maintains its position as a flagship department within the school.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the RE department’s teaching and learning.
- Collaborate with other departments to enhance cross-curricular links.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in leading a department in a Catholic school setting.
- Strong knowledge of the Catholic faith and diocesan requirements for RE.
- Excellent leadership and management skills.
- Commitment to the Catholic mission and values of the school.
- Experience in curriculum development and delivery.
Preferred
- Experience in Catholic education leadership.
- Experience with pastoral care and spiritual development.
- Experience with teaching Religious Education at Key Stage 3 and 4.
- Experience with developing and implementing departmental policies and strategies.
