The Opportunity:

As Head of RE, you will lead a dynamic and high-achieving department that is central to the school’s mission and values. This is a unique opportunity to shape the delivery of a vibrant and engaging RE curriculum, in line with diocesan requirements and the school’s ASPIRE values.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a team of dedicated RE teachers to deliver an outstanding curriculum.
  • Ensure RE is taught with the same high standards as other core subjects.
  • Work closely with the Assistant Headteacher in charge of Catholic Life and the school chaplain.
  • Promote the school’s Catholic mission and values through the RE curriculum.
  • Support students in developing their spiritual, moral, and cultural understanding.
  • Ensure the department maintains its position as a flagship department within the school.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the RE department’s teaching and learning.
  • Collaborate with other departments to enhance cross-curricular links.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in leading a department in a Catholic school setting.
  • Strong knowledge of the Catholic faith and diocesan requirements for RE.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills.
  • Commitment to the Catholic mission and values of the school.
  • Experience in curriculum development and delivery.

Preferred

  • Experience in Catholic education leadership.
  • Experience with pastoral care and spiritual development.
  • Experience with teaching Religious Education at Key Stage 3 and 4.
  • Experience with developing and implementing departmental policies and strategies.
