The Opportunity:

As the Head of Religious Education, you will play a key role in shaping the curriculum and inspiring students to explore faith and spirituality. This is an opportunity to lead a department and make a lasting impact on student outcomes and school culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Religious Education department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement a dynamic and inclusive RE curriculum aligned with the school’s vision and values.
  • Support and mentor teachers, providing professional development and guidance.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, ensuring consistent standards and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate RE with broader themes such as global citizenship and ethics.
  • Represent the department in meetings and contribute to school-wide initiatives.
  • Engage with the wider community through events, partnerships, and outreach.
  • Promote the importance of faith and spirituality within the school ethos.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in Religious Education.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with a proven track record in departmental leadership.
  • Experience in curriculum development and delivery.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to the school’s vision and values, including global citizenship and inclusion.

Preferred

  • Experience in an Ofsted Outstanding school or similar setting.
  • Knowledge of Church of England education and values.
  • Experience in leading a department with a focus on student achievement and well-being.
  • Familiarity with enrichment activities and extra-curricular programs.
