The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Head of School for a fixed-term maternity cover position at the Sherwood Park Campus. This role is pivotal in maintaining the high standards of education and care, ensuring the campus continues to thrive as a warm, friendly, and progressive environment for learners and staff alike.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the Sherwood Park Campus.
  • Ensure the delivery of a high-quality, inclusive education for learners with severe, multiple, and complex learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
  • Foster a supportive and professional school culture, aligned with the school's values and mission.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance the learning and wellbeing of all students.
  • Collaborate with staff, parents, and external professionals to support the needs of learners.
  • Uphold safeguarding and child protection policies in line with the school’s commitment.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to maintain the school’s ethos and continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in leading a special school or similar educational setting.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate staff.
  • In-depth knowledge of special educational needs and inclusive teaching practices.
  • Experience in managing a school with a focus on self-regulation and neurodiversity.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Preferred

  • Experience in managing a school with learners who have complex access needs.
  • Familiarity with Education Health and Care Plans and multi-agency working.
  • Experience with curriculum development and individualised learning plans.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
