The Opportunity:

As a Lead Science Practitioner, you will play a key role in driving excellence in Science education across Key Stage 3 and 4. This is a chance to make a real impact on student learning and contribute to the continued growth and success of a dynamic and high-achieving Science department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver high-quality Science teaching across a range of abilities.
  • Support the Curriculum Area Leader of Science in raising standards and improving student outcomes.
  • Lead and mentor colleagues to ensure consistent and effective Science teaching practices.
  • Design and implement innovative and engaging Science lessons and resources.
  • Monitor and assess student progress to ensure all pupils meet their full potential.
  • Collaborate with other subject areas and departments to enhance cross-curricular learning.
  • Stay up to date with developments in Science education and incorporate best practices into teaching.
  • Provide regular feedback and support to students and staff to promote continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Science teacher with relevant experience.
  • Proven ability to deliver Science to Key Stage 3 and 4 students.
  • Strong leadership and teamworking skills.
  • Experience in curriculum development and departmental leadership.
  • Commitment to high standards in teaching and student achievement.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a Science department or similar role.
  • Knowledge of current Science education trends and research.
  • Experience with inclusive teaching strategies and differentiated instruction.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
