The Opportunity:

As the Head of Science, you will lead the Science department and play a key role in delivering high-quality education and inspiring students to reach their full potential. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Science department to ensure high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement a Science curriculum that is engaging, challenging, and aligned with the school’s vision.
  • Support and mentor Science staff to enhance teaching practices and student outcomes.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted support where needed.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate Science across the curriculum.
  • Promote a culture of scientific inquiry, innovation, and critical thinking.
  • Ensure the safe and effective use of Science facilities and equipment.
  • Represent the Science department at staff meetings, parent evenings, and external events.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a strong background in Science education.
  • Proven leadership experience in a school or college setting.
  • Excellent knowledge of Science curriculum and pedagogy.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a Science department or similar role.
  • Familiarity with Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programmes.
  • Experience in curriculum development and assessment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for Science and a commitment to inspiring students.
