The Opportunity:
As the Head of Science, you will lead the Science department and play a key role in delivering high-quality education and inspiring students to reach their full potential. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Science department to ensure high standards of teaching and learning.
- Develop and implement a Science curriculum that is engaging, challenging, and aligned with the school’s vision.
- Support and mentor Science staff to enhance teaching practices and student outcomes.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted support where needed.
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate Science across the curriculum.
- Promote a culture of scientific inquiry, innovation, and critical thinking.
- Ensure the safe and effective use of Science facilities and equipment.
- Represent the Science department at staff meetings, parent evenings, and external events.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with a strong background in Science education.
- Proven leadership experience in a school or college setting.
- Excellent knowledge of Science curriculum and pedagogy.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Preferred
- Experience in leading a Science department or similar role.
- Familiarity with Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programmes.
- Experience in curriculum development and assessment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for Science and a commitment to inspiring students.
