The Opportunity:
As Head of Science, you will lead the strategic direction and day-to-day excellence of the Science Department. You will champion an inspiring, forward-thinking Science curriculum from KS3 to KS5, ensuring every pupil is challenged, motivated, and supported to achieve their full potential. This is a permanent, full-time role with a start date in August 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the Science Department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
- Champion an innovative Science curriculum that engages and challenges students across all key stages.
- Collaborate with the Executive Head and other school leaders to drive excellence in teaching and learning.
- Support the development of STEAM provision across the wider school community.
- Continue to teach your specialist subject, modelling best practice and inspiring students.
- Contribute to a vibrant programme of trips, enrichment opportunities, and whole-school initiatives.
- Mentor and support Science staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive team culture.
- Stay up to date with developments in Science education and implement effective teaching strategies.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in leading a Science department at a senior level.
- Strong subject expertise in Science with a commitment to inspiring students and colleagues.
- Demonstrated success in driving academic progress and raising standards.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage and develop a team effectively.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Preferred
- Experience in curriculum development and innovation in Science education.
- Background in STEAM and cross-curricular collaboration.
- Experience in leading whole-school initiatives or extracurricular programmes.
- Familiarity with international education standards and practices.
- Strong leadership and strategic thinking skills.
