The Opportunity:

As a Premises Assistant, you will play a key role in maintaining the safety, security, and functionality of the school’s premises. This position supports the smooth operation of the school and ensures that students and staff have a secure and well-maintained environment to learn and work in.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the school premises, ensuring cleanliness, order, and safety standards are met.
  • Report hazards, manage site security, and respond to alarms promptly.
  • Unlock and secure the site, manage car park operations, and ensure clear entrances.
  • Assist with minor repairs, health and safety tasks, and general site maintenance.
  • Monitor contractors and ensure all work is completed to the required standard.
  • Support the Premises team with tasks such as moving furniture and assisting with large displays.
  • Drive school minibuses and ensure safe transportation of students and staff.
  • Maintain the swimming pool and other facilities as required.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Practical skills such as carpentry, painting and decorating, or plumbing repairs.
  • Ability to drive a school minibus (training will be provided).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to work outside standard hours and support site coverage as needed.

Preferred

  • Experience in a similar role within an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and procedures.
  • Experience with facility management or premises maintenance.
  • Previous experience with alarm systems or security protocols.
