The Opportunity:

As the Head of Sport, you will lead and inspire a dynamic team to deliver a high-quality physical education programme that supports student achievement and personal development. This role is ideal for an experienced and visionary educator passionate about driving excellence in sport and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the sport department to ensure high-quality teaching and learning across all key stages.
  • Develop and implement a sport curriculum that promotes student engagement, physical development, and academic success.
  • Support and mentor teaching staff to enhance professional practice and student outcomes.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring alignment with the school’s vision and academic standards.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate sport and physical education into the broader curriculum.
  • Organise and oversee extracurricular sporting activities and events to promote school spirit and student participation.
  • Ensure the wellbeing and safety of all students within the sport programme.
  • Contribute to the school’s strategic goals and initiatives, including those related to inclusion and innovation.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A high-quality degree in Physical Education
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Proven track record of outstanding teaching at Key Stages 4 and 5
  • Experience in leading and managing a department or team
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills
  • Commitment to student wellbeing and inclusive education

Preferred

  • Experience with international, multicultural school environments
  • Background in developing and implementing subject initiatives
  • Experience with CPD and professional development programmes
  • Familiarity with the British curriculum and examination systems
