The Opportunity:

As the Head of Student Support (SENCO), you will lead and coordinate learning support provision from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5. This role is pivotal in ensuring that students requiring additional support are empowered to reach their full potential. You will be a key figure in shaping inclusive and effective learning strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate learning support services across all key stages.
  • Develop and implement strategies to support students with additional learning needs.
  • Work closely with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to student support.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of support programs and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Provide professional leadership and guidance to the learning support team.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant policies and statutory requirements.
  • Promote an inclusive and supportive school culture that values diversity and individual needs.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to integrate student support initiatives into the school’s overall educational vision.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a leadership or management role within education.
  • Strong understanding of special educational needs and inclusion practices.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals.
  • Commitment to student welfare and academic success.

Preferred

  • Experience in a SENCO or similar senior support role.
