The Opportunity:

As an SEN Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to the needs of students with autism, dyslexia, and other additional needs. You will contribute to curriculum development, support student progress, and work collaboratively with colleagues and families to ensure the best outcomes for every pupil.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
  • Develop and maintain detailed pupil profiles and monitor student progress.
  • Collaborate with external agencies, parents, and multidisciplinary teams to support student development.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and whole-school projects.
  • Implement positive reinforcement strategies to maintain behaviour expectations.
  • Assess learning outcomes and report on student progress regularly.
  • Participate in professional development, standardisation meetings, and training.
  • Support teaching assistants and trainee instructors in their roles.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience teaching pupils in Key Stages 2–4.
  • Strong understanding of Autism Spectrum Conditions and/or Dyslexia.
  • Confident classroom management skills.
  • Commitment to holistic, person-centred teaching.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proactive approach to professional development.
  • Strong commitment to safeguarding.

Preferred

  • Experience teaching across a range of key stages.
  • Experience with multi-sensory teaching methods.
  • Familiarity with structured and cumulative teaching approaches.
  • Experience with vocational qualifications or support for students with Asperger’s Syndrome.
