Summary:

Head of Year role at a successful school in South West London. Lead and support students with a focus on pastoral care and academic success.

The Opportunity:

As Head of Year, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic and pastoral needs of students. This is a leadership position that requires a balance of teaching excellence and strong pastoral care, making a meaningful impact on student outcomes and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a year group, ensuring the academic and pastoral needs of students are met
  • Work closely with teachers, support staff, and parents to promote student success and well-being
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve student behavior, attendance, and engagement
  • Monitor and support student progress through regular assessments and feedback
  • Coordinate school events and activities that foster a positive and inclusive school culture
  • Provide guidance and support to students on academic, social, and personal matters
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure alignment with school policies and objectives
  • Maintain strong communication with parents and carers to support student development

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a pastoral leadership role within an educational setting
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a year group and support student well-being
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • Commitment to the school’s Christian ethos and inclusive values
  • Qualified teacher with experience in a relevant subject area

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching PE, Music, DT (Food Technology), Geography, or History
  • Ability to teach more than one subject
  • Experience in leading and mentoring junior staff
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Experience with student welfare and behavioral support programs
