The Opportunity:
As Head of Year, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic and pastoral needs of students. This is a leadership position that requires a balance of teaching excellence and strong pastoral care, making a meaningful impact on student outcomes and well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a year group, ensuring the academic and pastoral needs of students are met
- Work closely with teachers, support staff, and parents to promote student success and well-being
- Develop and implement strategies to improve student behavior, attendance, and engagement
- Monitor and support student progress through regular assessments and feedback
- Coordinate school events and activities that foster a positive and inclusive school culture
- Provide guidance and support to students on academic, social, and personal matters
- Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure alignment with school policies and objectives
- Maintain strong communication with parents and carers to support student development
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in a pastoral leadership role within an educational setting
- Demonstrated ability to manage a year group and support student well-being
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities
- Commitment to the school’s Christian ethos and inclusive values
- Qualified teacher with experience in a relevant subject area
Preferred
- Experience in teaching PE, Music, DT (Food Technology), Geography, or History
- Ability to teach more than one subject
- Experience in leading and mentoring junior staff
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Experience with student welfare and behavioral support programs
