Summary:

Head of Year Key Stage 5 – Lead and inspire a successful 6th Form team.

The Opportunity:

As the Head of Year Key Stage 5, you will play a pivotal role in leading and developing a highly successful 6th Form. This is an opportunity to influence academic outcomes, provide strong pastoral support, and contribute to a dynamic team committed to student success and growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the 6th Form, ensuring academic excellence and strong pastoral care.
  • Support and develop staff, including line management of 6th Form tutors.
  • Monitor and improve student progress, using data to inform teaching and learning strategies.
  • Work closely with the Careers Team to enhance student opportunities and outcomes.
  • Promote the school’s values and ethos, including Co-operation, Ambition, Respect, and Empathy.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders and colleagues to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
  • Deliver high-quality teaching and learning experiences that meet the needs of Key Stage 5 students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience and success in teaching at A Level or other Level 3 qualifications.
  • Demonstrable ability to impact academic outcomes and provide effective pastoral support.
  • Strong understanding of current educational developments and data related to Key Stage 5.
  • High expectations of students and a commitment to their academic and personal development.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in a leadership or senior teaching role.
  • Background in managing a large and successful 6th Form team.
  • Experience with pastoral care and student welfare.
  • Familiarity with the Harrow Collegiate Alliance or similar educational partnerships.
  • Experience with careers guidance and student progression support.
