The Opportunity:

As the Head of Year KS5, you will play a vital role in shaping the pastoral experience for students in the sixth form. This is an opportunity to lead a dedicated team and support students in their academic, social, and emotional development. The successful candidate will be an innovative and committed leader with a passion for student welfare and progress.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of form tutors and pastoral staff to ensure high standards of student care and support.
  • Develop and implement effective pastoral systems that promote positive student behavior and academic success.
  • Support students in their academic progress, ensuring they receive the guidance and resources needed to achieve their goals.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive environment that encourages student engagement and well-being.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to align pastoral strategies with school-wide objectives.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of pastoral programs and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Provide regular feedback and guidance to students and staff to maintain high standards of conduct and achievement.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure a cohesive approach to student support and development.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Significant teaching experience across all key stages.
  • Proven leadership experience in a pastoral or educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of character education and its role in student development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team of staff and students.
  • Commitment to student welfare and academic achievement.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a pastoral team within a secondary school.
  • Knowledge of implementing and embedding pastoral systems.
  • Experience with student behavior management and support strategies.
  • Familiarity with Ofsted standards and school improvement processes.
  • Experience in a large, diverse school environment.
