The Opportunity:

As a Pastoral Mentor, you will play a key role in supporting students who face barriers to learning. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide targeted emotional and mentoring support, helping to improve student behaviour, wellbeing, and engagement. You will work closely with the Pastoral Support Manager and Senior Leadership team to ensure every student receives the support they need to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students who face barriers to learning through one-to-one and group interactions.
  • Build strong relationships with students, carers, and school staff to ensure consistent support.
  • Coordinate and review the use of the school’s ‘Reflection’ base to meet student needs.
  • Provide targeted pastoral and emotional support to improve student behaviour and engagement.
  • Work collaboratively with the Pastoral Support Manager and Senior Leadership team.
  • Contribute to the development of strategies to enhance student wellbeing and success.
  • Monitor and report on student progress and outcomes regularly.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in providing pastoral or emotional support to students.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and families.
  • Understanding of child development and behaviour management.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of support systems such as the ‘Reflection’ base.
  • Experience with behaviour management strategies.
  • Experience working with students facing barriers to learning.
