The Opportunity:
As a Pastoral Mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting students who face barriers to learning and contribute to the school’s goal of being truly inclusive. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide targeted pastoral, emotional, and mentoring support, helping to improve student engagement, wellbeing, behaviour, and attendance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students who face barriers to learning through targeted pastoral and emotional support.
- Work closely with the Pastoral Support Manager and Senior Leadership Team to address emerging behavioural incidents.
- Assist in the functioning of inclusion spaces and support students in making appropriate choices.
- Re-engage individual students and help them achieve positive outcomes.
- Provide support within and beyond the classroom across all age groups.
- Collaborate with staff to ensure a consistent approach to student behaviour and wellbeing.
- Contribute to the development of inclusive practices and policies.
- Promote student engagement and attendance through proactive support.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in pastoral support or mentoring roles within an educational setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexibly across all age groups.
- Confidence in managing varied student behaviours.
- Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing.
Preferred
- Experience in working with students who face barriers to learning.
- Knowledge of inclusive education practices.
- Experience with behaviour management strategies.
- Experience in supporting students with emotional or social needs.
- Familiarity with safeguarding procedures.
