The Opportunity:

As a Pastoral Mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting students who face barriers to learning and contribute to the school’s goal of being truly inclusive. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide targeted pastoral, emotional, and mentoring support, helping to improve student engagement, wellbeing, behaviour, and attendance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students who face barriers to learning through targeted pastoral and emotional support.
  • Work closely with the Pastoral Support Manager and Senior Leadership Team to address emerging behavioural incidents.
  • Assist in the functioning of inclusion spaces and support students in making appropriate choices.
  • Re-engage individual students and help them achieve positive outcomes.
  • Provide support within and beyond the classroom across all age groups.
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure a consistent approach to student behaviour and wellbeing.
  • Contribute to the development of inclusive practices and policies.
  • Promote student engagement and attendance through proactive support.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in pastoral support or mentoring roles within an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly across all age groups.
  • Confidence in managing varied student behaviours.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing.

Preferred

  • Experience in working with students who face barriers to learning.
  • Knowledge of inclusive education practices.
  • Experience with behaviour management strategies.
  • Experience in supporting students with emotional or social needs.
  • Familiarity with safeguarding procedures.
