The Opportunity:

As the Head of Year Upper School, you will lead a year group of students and a tutor team across Years 7-11. This is a pivotal role in shaping student outcomes, driving academic progress, and fostering a positive learning environment. The successful candidate will be a strong leader, passionate about teaching, and committed to the school’s vision of excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a year group, ensuring high standards of behaviour, academic achievement, and pastoral care.
  • Work collaboratively with staff across the school, including those on both sites, to support student development.
  • Deliver high-quality teaching across all Key Stages, demonstrating excellence in practice.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve student progress and attainment.
  • Provide guidance and support to students, parents, and colleagues, acting as a role model and mentor.
  • Promote the school’s values of ambition, responsibility, and excellence within the year group.
  • Contribute to the development of the school’s curriculum and extracurricular activities.
  • Monitor and evaluate student performance, providing feedback to support continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in leading a year group.
  • Proven track record of achieving outstanding student progress.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in teaching across multiple Key Stages.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing.

Preferred

  • Experience in an all-through school setting.
  • Background in pastoral care and student support.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Experience with curriculum development and innovation in teaching.
