The Opportunity:
As a Head of Year with PE, you will play a key role in supporting student achievement, behaviour, and wellbeing. This is a leadership position that combines pastoral care with a focus on physical education, making a real impact on student outcomes and school culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a culture of high standards in behaviour, achievement, and student engagement across a year group.
- Lead and manage a team of Form Tutors to ensure the effective delivery of the pastoral and wellbeing programme.
- Monitor and evaluate the implementation of the PDC curriculum and support tutor development.
- Promote student progress and raise standards through targeted interventions and support.
- Work closely with the Academy Behaviour and Safeguarding Teams to ensure consistent application of policies.
- Monitor student attendance and take appropriate action, including home visits and liaison with external agencies.
- Support the development of positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues to build a cohesive school community.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- A relevant degree or equivalent qualification
- Extensive teaching experience with a proven record of outstanding teaching practice
- Experience in managing a team and leading pastoral initiatives
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Experience in implementing strategies to raise student achievement
- Commitment to student wellbeing and safeguarding
Preferred
- Experience in physical education or sports leadership
- Experience in managing challenging behaviour and attendance issues
- Leadership experience in a school or educational setting
- Experience in developing and delivering staff training programmes
