The Opportunity:
As Headteacher, you will provide visionary and operational leadership, ensuring high-quality education, safeguarding, and wellbeing for pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviours. This is a pivotal role in shaping the future of a school committed to making a real difference in the lives of young people.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop strong partnerships with parents, carers, the local community, and external agencies to enhance pupil outcomes and wellbeing.
- Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of the school improvement plan with clear priorities and measurable targets.
- Manage resources effectively, including staffing, finance, and facilities, ensuring alignment with educational priorities and compliance with statutory requirements.
- Take responsibility for the financial performance of the school, including budget planning and expenditure monitoring.
- Ensure the school meets statutory SEND requirements and provides tailored support for pupils with additional needs.
- Establish and sustain high-quality, expert teaching across all subjects and phases based on evidence-informed practices.
- Create a culture where pupils experience a positive, enriching, and safe school life, promoting respect, inclusion, and high aspirations.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Passionate and committed to supporting students with SEND
- Proven leadership experience in a special school or complex educational setting
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS)
- Deep understanding of the Ofsted independent school inspection framework, statutory duties, and safeguarding
- Ability to inspire, motivate, and lead a diverse team to achieve high standards
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with staff, pupils, parents, governors, and partners
- Commitment to the Nolan Principles and highest standards of professional conduct
Preferred
- Experience in developing and implementing strategic school improvement plans
- Experience working with external agencies such as CAMHS, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists
- Experience with sensory integration strategies and social skills training
