The Opportunity:

As a Heritage Language Tutor, you will support secondary students in developing their skills in a range of languages, including Polish, Arabic, Italian, German, Mandarin, and Japanese. You will work closely with the languages team to prepare students for GCSE exams through small group tutoring, assessment, and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students in developing their language skills towards GCSE qualification.
  • Deliver small group tutoring sessions tailored to students’ needs.
  • Mark and assess mock exams and practice assessments.
  • Collaborate with the languages team to enhance teaching strategies and exam preparation.
  • Liaise with students and parents to provide regular feedback and support.
  • Contribute to the development of language curriculum and resources.
  • Monitor student progress and provide targeted interventions where necessary.
  • Participate in department meetings and training sessions.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant teaching experience or qualifications in language instruction.
  • Experience working with secondary-age students.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and support staff.
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following languages: Polish, Arabic, Italian, German, Mandarin, or Japanese.

Preferred

  • Experience in assessing and marking GCSE-level language exams.
  • Familiarity with teaching methodologies for language acquisition.
  • Experience with small group or one-to-one tutoring.
  • Knowledge of exam preparation strategies for GCSE qualifications.
