The Opportunity:
As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students aged 11-19 across the curriculum and in all areas of need. You will work closely with teachers and students to help them achieve their full potential in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support individual and group learning under the direction of the teacher
- Contribute to lesson planning and evaluation within a teacher-defined framework
- Assist in assessing student needs and progress, promoting independence and learning
- Liaise with staff, parents, and professionals to provide information on student progress
- Support the development and implementation of Individual Development Plans
- Assist with student transitions and support parents in students’ learning
- Line-manage a team of classroom support staff
- Administer medication in accordance with an agreed plan and under appropriate training
- Support students with mobility, eating, dressing, and hygiene while encouraging independence
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant or equivalent
- Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice
- Experience working with students aged 11-19 across the curriculum
- Ability to support students with a range of needs and promote independence
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to working in a supportive and inclusive environment
Preferred
- Experience in line-managing a team of support staff
- Experience with administering medication under healthcare guidance
- Experience in supporting transitions for students
- Knowledge of Individual Development Plans and their implementation
- Experience with parent engagement and collaboration
