The Opportunity:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging lessons that motivate and challenge students across all ability levels.
  • Implement a broad, balanced, and differentiated curriculum that supports student progress and development.
  • Monitor and support student progress as a tutor and provide targeted interventions where needed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to raise standards of achievement and promote best practices in teaching and learning.
  • Contribute to the development of the history curriculum and ensure it reflects current pedagogical approaches.
  • Encourage a learning culture that promotes student independence and academic growth.
  • Support the school’s mission to provide a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for all students.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities and contribute to the wider life of the school.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A recognised degree (or equivalent) with a good classification in a relevant subject and qualified teacher status (QTS).
  • Proven experience as a classroom practitioner with a strong track record in teaching history.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • A deep understanding of current curriculum and pedagogical developments in history education.
  • Strong organisational skills to manage workload and deliver effective teaching and learning.
  • A genuine passion for teaching history and a commitment to student success.

Preferred

  • Experience in developing and leading curriculum initiatives.
  • Experience with teaching English as a second language or working in diverse educational settings.
  • Leadership or mentoring experience within a school setting.
  • Experience with student wellbeing and pastoral care.
