The Opportunity:

As an HLTA English, you will support students in years 7 to 11 with literacy and intervention lessons, working closely with teachers and contributing to a vibrant, two-site secondary school in East London. This role offers a meaningful impact on student achievement and a supportive working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver literacy and intervention lessons to students across years 7 to 11
  • Support teachers in their classes and assist with lesson planning
  • Supervise and manage an intervention room effectively
  • Work collaboratively with the Head of English and departmental staff
  • Monitor and support the progress of students requiring additional literacy support
  • Contribute to the development of teaching and learning strategies
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on student progress
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant experience in teaching or supporting students in literacy development
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience working with students across a range of abilities
  • Understanding of curriculum requirements for English and literacy

Preferred

  • Experience in a secondary school environment
  • Familiarity with intervention strategies and support programs
  • Experience with assessment and tracking of student progress
  • Knowledge of inclusive teaching practices
