The Opportunity:
Join a school’s team as a HLTA – Literacy and EAL, providing targeted support to students in literacy and English as an Additional Language. This role is central to helping students overcome learning barriers and achieve academic success through tailored interventions and collaboration with staff and families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individual and small-group interventions to support literacy and EAL development.
- Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and external agencies to coordinate student support.
- Develop students’ reading, writing, vocabulary, and language skills to enhance curriculum access.
- Strengthen communication between home and school to support student progress.
- Contribute to the school’s literacy and inclusion strategy, promoting language development and academic success.
- Build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues to support a collaborative learning environment.
- Implement strategies to help students with identified learning needs make sustained progress.
- Support the school’s mission of ensuring every student can thrive through effective teaching and intervention.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Relevant experience in literacy support or English as an Additional Language (EAL) provision.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff, students, and families.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
- Experience in delivering targeted interventions to support student learning.
Preferred
- Experience with literacy programs or EAL strategies.
- Knowledge of inclusive education practices.
- Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.
- Familiarity with curriculum access strategies for students with additional needs.
- Experience in a school setting, particularly within a multi-academy trust.
