Summary:

Safeguarding Officer role at a supportive academy in Sheffield.

The Opportunity:

As a Safeguarding Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the well-being and safety of students. You will work closely with staff and external agencies to implement safeguarding policies and support students in need. This is a key role for those passionate about making a difference in education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement safeguarding policies and procedures in line with KCSIE and national guidelines.
  • Liaise with internal and external agencies to report, monitor and support students and families.
  • Provide intervention and guidance to students on well-being and educational matters.
  • Work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and pastoral teams to ensure the safety of all students.
  • Attend training and stay updated on safeguarding developments and best practices.
  • Maintain accurate records and report incidents in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support the school in maintaining a safe and inclusive environment for all students.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a consistent approach to safeguarding across the school.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Knowledge of safeguarding roles and responsibilities in education.
  • Familiarity with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) and Working Together to Safeguard Children.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Preferred

  • Experience in a safeguarding role within an educational setting.
  • Experience with pastoral care and student support.
  • Experience with child protection and welfare policies.
  • Experience working with external agencies and multi-agency teams.
  • Knowledge of child development and emotional well-being.
