The Opportunity:

As an HLTA SEMH, you will provide essential support to students with social, emotional, and mental health needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes. This role is central to the school’s mission of ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed both academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver targeted interventions and strategies to support students with SEMH needs.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams, families, and external agencies.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with students and their families.
  • Support students in improving emotional regulation, engagement, and readiness to learn.
  • Contribute to the school’s inclusion strategy and promote a safe, supportive environment.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of small-group and individual sessions.
  • Monitor and report on student progress and outcomes.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant experience in supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to the school’s values and mission.
  • Experience in a school or educational setting.

Preferred

  • Qualifications in education or mental health support.
  • Experience with behaviour management and emotional well-being strategies.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Experience in delivering one-to-one or small-group interventions.
  • Familiarity with United Learning’s approach to education and inclusion.
