The Opportunity:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality Humanities and RSHE lessons across a full range of ages and abilities.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and enhance the curriculum, particularly in a SEND context.
  • Support students with complex needs, including those with mental health challenges, through effective teaching and pastoral care.
  • Implement strategies that promote social communication, independence, and academic success.
  • Contribute to staff professional development and share innovative teaching practices.
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and motivation.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, ensuring that all learners achieve their full potential.
  • Participate in school-wide initiatives and contribute to the overall mission and values of the institution.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in teaching Humanities and RSHE.
  • Proven ability to work with students with a range of needs, including those with SEND and mental health challenges.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to manage challenging behaviour effectively.
  • Commitment to promoting student well-being and academic success.
  • Experience in developing and delivering curriculum content that supports student growth and cultural capital.

Preferred

  • Experience in a non-mainstream or alternative provision setting.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed teaching practices.
  • Experience in curriculum development within a SEND context.
  • Passion for supporting students with complex needs and a desire to make a positive difference in their lives.
  • Experience in staff training and professional development.
