The Opportunity:
As an Inclusion Officer and Deputy Safeguarding Lead, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs and safeguarding across the school. Working closely with the SENCo and Designated Safeguarding Lead, you will champion inclusive practices and ensure the wellbeing of all students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the strategic development of SEND and safeguarding provision across the school.
- Work collaboratively with the SENCo and DSL to ensure the needs of vulnerable students are met.
- Line-manage a team of Learning Support Assistants to maintain high standards of student welfare and academic progress.
- Deliver staff training and recommend evidence-based interventions for students with additional needs.
- Communicate effectively with staff, students, parents, and external agencies with empathy and professionalism.
- Implement successful strategies to support student inclusion and progress.
- Contribute to all aspects of school life and the wider community.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including Keeping Children Safe in Education and the SEND Code of Practice.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in leading SEND and safeguarding initiatives.
- Strong understanding of relevant legislation, including Keeping Children Safe in Education and the SEND Code of Practice.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage a team effectively.
- Commitment to student wellbeing, attainment, and emotional development.
- Experience in delivering training and implementing evidence-based interventions.
Preferred
- Experience in a similar leadership role within a school setting.
- Knowledge of Visual and Performing Arts curriculum or related specialisms.
- Experience with safeguarding liaison and emergency meetings.
- Experience working in a diverse and inclusive school environment.
