Summary:

IT Director needed to lead and manage the school’s IT infrastructure and digital learning initiatives.

The Opportunity:

As an IT Director, you will be responsible for leading the strategic direction of the school’s IT services, ensuring seamless digital learning and efficient operations. This is a pivotal role in shaping the school’s technological future and supporting innovation in teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team in developing and implementing a strategic IT plan aligned with the school’s objectives.
  • Oversee the management of IT infrastructure, network configurations, and software packages to support the transition to a MS365 school.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the IT department, including recruitment, training, and performance evaluation of IT staff.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and establish robust cybersecurity protocols to safeguard school data.
  • Manage IT projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget constraints.
  • Collaborate with academic departments to identify technology needs and provide tailored solutions.
  • Maintain and manage software systems, databases, and communication technologies across the school.
  • Stay informed on emerging technologies and recommend improvements to enhance teaching, learning, and operational efficiency.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven IT leadership experience in a school environment.
  • Experience managing IT teams, budgets, suppliers, and service contracts.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement IT strategies aligned with organisational goals.
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, cloud services, and cybersecurity.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.

Preferred

  • Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience with education systems and platforms such as MIS, Microsoft 365, Azure AD, and Google Workspace.
  • Knowledge of data protection legislation (e.g., UK GDPR) and its application in schools.
  • Experience in leading digital transformation initiatives to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft product stack, including Windows 11, Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Entra, and Intune.
