KS3 Tutor with SEN experience needed in Tooting area.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced KS3 Tutor to work with students in the Tooting area. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in core subjects and experience working with students with SEN. As a tutor with Bright Heart, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact through personalized, student-centred support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and effective tuition in core subjects to KS3 students
  • Work closely with students with special educational needs (SEN) and provide tailored support
  • Apply the Bright Heart Approach to build trust, self-esteem, and academic confidence
  • Collaborate with parents, schools, and other professionals to support student progress
  • Attend training and development sessions to enhance teaching practices and safeguarding knowledge
  • Maintain accurate records and provide regular feedback on student progress
  • Comply with all safeguarding and child protection policies
  • Travel to assigned locations within the Tooting area for in-person tutoring sessions

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • At least 12 months of relevant tutoring and/or teaching experience in the UK
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • Strong subject knowledge in core subjects (English, maths, science)
  • Current Enhanced DBS certificate with a check of the children’s barred list
  • 2 relevant professional references and a parent reference
  • University qualification or studying towards one and A-levels
  • Passion for teaching and working with students with SEN

Preferred

  • Experience with students with special educational needs (SEN) or social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs
  • Experience with the Bright Heart Approach or similar student-centred teaching methods
  • Familiarity with individual learning plans (ILPs) and SEMH support strategies
  • Flexibility to work both in-person and online
  • Experience with the National Tutoring Programme (NTP) or similar initiatives
